I just started playing clarinet last year, and I’ve gone from a 2 1/2 to a 4. I play on Vandoren reeds, and they have a great sound. But I notice that most of the reeds are fuzzy sounding, and that only a few are really good. Are there any better brands then Vandoren? I’ve [...]

I’ve played clarinet for 6 years and alto for 3.

I’m starting clarinet && all i need is the reeds. I’m not sure what type to get. I’ve played alto saxophone for six years && i use Rico Reeds – #3. What do i get for clarinet?

Im trying to find a brand of reed that works best with the M13 mouthpiece. It has a long facing,so harder reeds generaly work better, but different brands vary in thickness and overal dimension.Which kinds should I look into?

I have a small question regarding clarinet reeds. I have an unopened box of 2 1/2 rico reeds. However, they are several months old. Will they still play as well as new 2 1/2 reeds? Remember, although they are unopened the box has been sitting in an unventilated clarinet case for about 6 months. Any [...]

I recently bought some vandoren reeds, and bought E flat reeds. But, i have a B flat clarinet. Will they work on my B flat clarinet?

I’m at a total loss here. Prices vary so much From .08 each to .99 each And the 1.99 ones are 25 to a box – you would think they would be cheaper.

Vandoren or Rico Reeds?

I’m 14 years old and I play Alto Saxophone. I’ve been playing for 5 years and I’ve been using 2 1/2 strength reeds ever since I started. My teacher has suggest that I move up to a 3 reed. The reeds I use right now are Rico reeds. I have a lot of questions: Are [...]

One that is not too pricey preferably, but what works best? Thanks!

I love using Vandoren Reeds for band. They are high quality and last for months. I really can’t afford another box of 10 reeds right now. At my local music stores a box of size 3 Vandoren reeds sells for dollars and each individual reed is ! I need reeds by this August for marching [...]

I am new at the clarinet and I have heard that Vandorens are best. But another thing I have heard is that Rico reeds may be better for playing softly. Currently I am using 3.5 Vandorens, and I have to improve on playing softer. So could switching to Rico help? What number should I get?

I could only find Rico Royal at the store. What are royals like?

also, do you know any place where you can buy single reeds? of vandoren?

i bought these reeds a few weeks ago and i was using one of them this past week for marching band. the reed is black and it started to get these little white stratches going about half way down the reed. anyone know about this? thx!

As the title says I need help to breaking in Vandoren 3.5 reeds. I’ve been trying for the last week and I can’t seem to get it to play any better. Is there any specific way that I can use to get these reeds to actually play? – I used to play on Vandoren 3′s [...]
