And when you play to a certain extent then you don't need them as much and grow out of them. I'd say go for a professional one, if you say your playing ability is up to par, and it will help you to be able to express your music better. If you're serious about music, which it looks like you are, i'd say save up for a professional sax that will be useful much longer, especially in a college setting, over a student model.
