I would highly suggest an alto first just to get the hang of it. Plus on soprano you have to have a bit tighter embouchure which can throw a lot of people off. Perhaps if you really don't want to do Alto maybe Clarinet ? It will also give you a good feeling from the new embouchure. So slow down and take your time and trust me it will give you much better playing on the Soprano Saxophone later on ...
