Hi there,
Im looking to buy an alto saxophone of my own (i have been hiring for a year) and i have found a yamaha YAS-01 alto sax in great condition for around 0. I was wondering if the yamaha YAS-01 would be a good choice for a fairly beginner player and if 0 is a good price for one in great condition?? I think that this brand of sax is vintage. Could you perhaps tell me some of the features of this saxophone?
THANKS!

1anything Yamaha is a good brand or will at least you a few years and for a beginner to be 750$ is great because yamaha saxes can be thousands of dollars.

2This answer does perhaps come too late, but it may… hopefully… prevent others from buying this product. I – an expert saxophone player – know what I’m talking about, because I bought a brand new Yamaha-01 alto sax in march 2010, and it turned out to be nothing but a piece of scrap. Its lower register is apallingly out of tune, and after having used it occasionally during one month, it has given a completely new meaning to the word “dense”, since the padding leaks air to such an extent that it is practically impossible to get a decent sound out of the damned horn.
Beware!!!! It is not a saxophone… it is a toy!
