Well... if you are planning on playing the sax for awhile, i wouldn't buy a cheap one; the 1st one i bought only cost 100 dollars, and it was called a Selman (an off-brand of Selmer). it was okay for a beginner, but when you get a little better, u need to have a nicer one. i always buy the Selmer brand of saxes. That's what my band director recommends to us. You could probably search for a cheaper used one on Ebay...

I agree with the other posters. My two cents: never buy an instrument that you haven't tried, and never buy an instrument that you can't return. It just isn't worth it. Get something that you know is quality, and that you know you like to play!

It is tempting to get those "great deals" on ebay, but they're really not so great. Instead, check out the craigslist for your page, and try a used instrument out in your neighborhood. Take someone along for safety... even I do that! Then, you know you're getting an instrument that works.

Those instruments on ebay that sell cheap and are made in China are no good. They are poorly made with poor materials, and if and when something breaks, you will NOT find replacement parts that fit. The fall apart very very easily.
