Me and my friend love to use plastic reeds when we’re doing pep band, but we are going to upgrade to synthetic. What in your opinion is the best synthetic reed and the worst one. I have heard good things about baris and fibracell and am leaning more toward the fibracell. Which one is your favorite that is least buzzy, loud, and able to keep a good tone quality?

1Legere plastic reeds I think are better than synthetic reeds, but if you like non plastic ones better, the best non-plastic synthetic reeds are fibracells. Just don’t get them too soft or they will be buzzy.
edit: let me go ahead and say that you are going to get a better tone with Vandoren reeds. I use the vandoren traditional reeds for band and classical music and I use Vandoren ZZs for jazz and rock. But you are asking about pep band so i didnt mention that earlier.

2The best reeds are Van Doren reeds. They are professionally manufactured by the french, and they are used by some of the best saxophone and clarinet players in the world. They provide excellent tone quaIity and are kept at the optimal temperature for maximum performance. I use them, and i think they are the best reeds on the planet. I highly recommend them
Hope this helps, and best of luck!

3i also use vandoren reeds for my alto, tenor seax and clarinet but i find that the 3 and up sound really airy even after they have been worn in. i think rico royal is really good for sound quality
