My high school jazz band is recording a cd and we are making an album cover. I was trying to think of some ideas to put on it, so if you have any suggestions let me know.
I have two different ways of thinking about this. One is the jazz that is before my time and the other is the jazz scene that I am witnessing in my life.
For the jazz of yesteryear, I think this picture is worth a thousand words.
Its Dexter Gordon, blowing smoke-http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_S0K-HFO4Xx8/SimLr1tiSdI/AAAAAAAAAa8/xELktykgJ-0/s1600-h/dgordon01.png
For today’s jazz, I think of a few normal looking guys on a tiny stage in a tiny place playing some of the best, most innovative music I have ever heard. http://www.jazzgallery.org/live/
Get a smoke filled background ,well dressed individuals slicked hair, maybe some spectacles ,pinstripe suits for men and lovely gowns for women.never look at the camera, these people don’t care for fame, only for respect.Take snap shots while in motion not still posing .Get those cuflings on the men to forgot about that one.And get a fedora hat and tip it.

2Bright back lit with silhouette musicians. A blue side or top light brushes the faces but still mostly just silhouette forms.
